Learning from reflection
đź’ˇLearning from reflection
📍 A very busy week, for both sides of my business, delighted to get back in front of my students, and great to see so many opportunities for my clients, keeping both me and them very busy.
📍I have leaned into reflection on both sides of my business as a method of helping my students and clients to capture the learning from my coaching sessions and teaching sessions.
📍It’s a small tool but a powerful one. Before I returned to education as an adult learner I hadn’t spent any time reflecting, I was working sales and once one sale was completed it was on to the next one, experience has taught me the benefit of taking a few minutes to reflect, so here are a few tips that might help you to add reflecting into your busy day.
Guide your reflection on these key questions
âś… 1. What happened in this situation/coaching session/meeting/interview?
âś…2. What did I learn from it?
âś…3. How do I feel about it?
âś…4. What takeaways can I take from it?
âś…5. What skills do I need to develop?
âś…6. What could I do differently to improve my role/performance/chance of success?
📍Document it!
Write it down! It’s really doesn’t matter in what format, just as long as it works for you. There are lots of frameworks to guide you, reach out if you are interested in them.
📍Feedback
If you feel comfortable share your reflections with your coach/boss/employee/friend perhaps they can provide a another layer of learning
