📍 Setbacks – Rejection and moving forward

🎺 “I gave a really good account of myself, but I did not get the job! I am so disappointed”🎺

📍 Not being successful doesn’t happen all that often for my clients and I, however when it does that can be hard pill to swallow.

📍Its life isn’t it, it simply doesn’t always go our way, we have challenging times, setbacks and disappointment. I always believe it’s not what happens to you in life it how you react to what happens is where we find our strengths and our values.

My advice for the tough times

✅ Acknowledge it is that not the news you wanted, no sugar coating it no pretending it’s good when it’s not just own it, it’s gut wrenching and hard to take.
âś…Then begin to see the learning in it, all interview experience and preparation is a learning opportunity, everyone learns from putting themselves out of their comfort zone and putting the hard work in, despite the fact the outcome is not what you wanted.
✅You can only control your interview, how you performed, you can’t control the other candidates that turned up and the decision the panel made.
✅Go get the feedback, you need to learn from the parts that you didn’t do well in.
✅You have momentum now, keep going the next role might be yours, don’t go down a negative path, undoubtably you will have got good feedback from the interview, build on it and keep going.
✅Don’t over think it, it’s disappointing for sure, but it’s just a job, there are so many many more important things in life, keep these feelings in perspective.
âś…Get a new plan of action, forward thinking, positive mindset, there is always a new opportunity, and the next one might well be yours.

I hope that helps, it’s never easy to hear “you did well but unfortunately…….! But you can move on, learn and be ready for the next one.
