💥 8 Years old today…

Brand New Horizons opened its doors 8 years ago, with an offering I was hoping would find an audience, very pleased to say it has definitely got an audience and delivered year on year growth. đź’Ą

📍 Always a risk to take on the route of self-employment but I had a niggling feeling it would be a success thankfully I was right.

📍 None of it possible of course without my clients, students and the nice people who employ me in the University of Limerick and DCU. A huge thank you to them for their support, guidance and learning.

📍I am the teacher and the coach, but I learn so much from my clients, students and peers. Always grateful for that.

I recently posted about the benefit of reflecting, so I am taking the opportunity to reflect on 8 very successful years and provide some guidance/tips to anyone thinking about setting up a business.

âś… Think about your business offering, and where it sits in the market. Can you bring something new to the market?
âś…Do you have the marketing/sales skills to sell your business, referrals will count for some of your business, but you will need to engage in some self-promotion to get your product offering out there?
✅Get organised with your finances, there is no point in working if you don’t get paid.
âś…Set it up so that it works for you, enjoy the freedom and flexibility it brings.
âś…It can be a slow process to build a brand and a business, be realistic about your projections.
✅Network with other self-employed people, there is huge learning to be gained from other peoples’ experience.
âś…Get expert help when you need it.
âś…Change brings opportunity don’t be afraid of it.
âś…Try and do something you love, it can be hard work to do it all, but I love what I do, and that makes everything enjoyable and rewarding!
âś…Enjoy it!
